You Soak And Warm Up
Time in the hot pools and sauna rooms first. Warm, damp skin releases dead cells easily. Cold skin does not.

Seshin · Koreatown, Los Angeles
A full layer of dead skin comes off in 35 minutes, and your skin stays smooth for weeks, not hours
You shower every day and your skin still feels rough. A trained scrub therapist works over your whole body until the buildup is gone, in your own partitioned space, open to men and women.
Not The Sugar Scrub In Your Shower
In Korea this treatment is called seshin. Some spas in Los Angeles list it as an Asian body scrub. It is the same thing.
You soak first so the top layer of skin softens. Then a therapist wearing an exfoliating mitt, often called an Italian towel, works across your body in firm strokes. The mitt lifts off the softened dead layer. It comes away in visible gray rolls, which is the part first timers always talk about afterward.
A home scrub polishes the surface. Seshin removes a full layer that a shower cannot reach. That is why the result lasts for weeks instead of hours.
No Surprises
Four stages, about 35 minutes on the table, and your private area stays covered the entire time.

Time in the hot pools and sauna rooms first. Warm, damp skin releases dead cells easily. Cold skin does not.

Back, arms, legs, stomach, neck, and feet in order. You turn over partway through. The pressure is firm and steady.

Warm water washes away what came loose. You will see it on the table. Most people find this oddly satisfying.

Oil or a body wrap goes on, depending on the service. Freshly scrubbed skin absorbs product far better than it did an hour earlier.
Every Price Posted
At $55 a Korean body scrub in Los Angeles is the least expensive hour most guests spend on their skin all month, and the sauna floor stays open to you afterward.

The Original
The traditional seshin. Full body exfoliation by a trained therapist that lifts impurities and dead skin, boosts circulation, and leaves you brighter and smoother than any shower can.
Spa entry $20 or entry pass

Full scrub, then a massage to work out the tension in your back and shoulders. The middle option, and the one most guests pick.
Spa entry $20 or entry pass

After a scrub your skin has nothing blocking it. Aveda oil goes straight in, and the moisture holds for days instead of hours.
Spa entry included

A warm seaweed masque and wrap with a scalp and face massage, then a refreshing shower, then a restorative full body massage.
Spa entry included

Total body scrub, our signature gold body wrap, a soothing massage, then hair care. Our longest treatment and the reason we call it Gold.
Spa entry included
Spa entry gives you the pools, the sauna rooms, and the jimjilbang for the rest of your visit. The longer treatments include it. On the shorter ones you can add it for $20 or use a pass you already have. Parking is free for up to six hours with license plate validation, seven days a week. In Koreatown that matters.
The Question Everyone Asks First
Your scrub happens in a partitioned area, not in the middle of an open room. You have your own space with the therapist and nobody else walking past. Your private area stays covered the entire time.
Your therapist has done this thousands of times, so nothing about your body is unusual to them.
Same Menu, Same Price, For Everyone
Men can book a Korean body scrub at Crystal Spa. Male guests get the same treatment, the same menu, and the same prices. Male therapists work with male guests, and female therapists work with female guests.
A male Korean body scrub is a common first spa visit for men who have never booked anything like this. No facial, no product upsell, no small talk required. You soak, you get scrubbed, you rinse, and you leave. Men who lift or ride tend to book the 70 minute scrub and massage because it handles both the skin and the shoulders in one visit.
This also makes us a practical option for couples. Two people can book scrubs at the same time and use the sauna floor together afterward.
Book For TwoFirst Korean Body Scrub? Here Is Your 30 Minute Head Start.
Thirty minutes of soaking is what separates a good Korean body scrub from a great one, and it costs you nothing extra.
Towels, robes, soap, and shampoo are provided. Show up with yourself and a bottle of water for afterward.
Your skin needs the soak. Show up right at your booking time and you will get less out of the treatment.
Firm pressure is normal, and your therapist will ease off the moment you ask. Nobody has ever regretted asking for lighter pressure.
No sunburn, no open cuts, no rashes, and no recent tattoos in the area being scrubbed.
Your skin is fresh and takes in everything you put on it. Give harsh products a day off.
Your skin needs time to rebuild the layer that came off. Going too often can leave it irritated.

Costs, Timing, And What Happens On Your First Visit
At Crystal Spa a 35 minute scrub is $55 plus $20 spa entry or an entry pass. Scrub and massage packages run from $100 to $200, and the longer ones include entry. Across Los Angeles most Korean spas charge somewhere between $55 and $150 for a scrub, with entry fees on top at some locations.
For most people, yes, especially the first time. The difference in how your skin feels is immediate and it lasts for weeks, which is not true of a home scrub. It also helps with rough patches on elbows, knees, and heels, and with the buildup on your back that you cannot reach yourself. Many of our regulars come every three to four weeks.
A soak to soften the skin, a full body exfoliation by a trained therapist, and a rinse. The longer packages add an oil massage, a body wrap, or hair care depending on which one you choose. Towels, robes, and basic toiletries are included with every service.
Back, chest, stomach, arms, legs, neck, and feet. Your private area stays covered throughout and is not touched. If there is any area you would rather skip, tell your therapist before you start.
Four things separate a good scrub from a rushed one. Enough soak time before the scrub, a therapist who covers every section instead of skipping the hard to reach ones, a space where you are not exposed to the whole room, and prices posted before you arrive. Ask about all four when you compare spas.
Every three to four weeks suits most people. Your skin needs time to rebuild the layer that came off. Going too often can leave it irritated.
Appointments are recommended, especially on weekends and evenings. Weekend evenings book out first and weekday mornings almost always have room. Walk in availability depends on the day.
Yes. Men can book any scrub on our menu at the same prices, and male therapists work with male guests.
